DECISION GUIDES

Partner Route or Open-Source Route? We Show Both.

Some technologies are available both as a partner-led commercial offering and as a community edition that Bassirah supports independently. We publish the trade-offs openly so you can choose based on security, connectors, operations, support and commercial requirements, not on a sales preference.

Trino OSS vs Starburst Enterprise: which route fits?

Trino is the open-source distributed SQL engine. Starburst Enterprise is a commercial distribution based on Trino, with additional product capabilities and vendor support options.

ClickHouse OSS or partner-led ClickHouse?

Two procurement and support routes into related technology: partner-led ClickHouse solutions and independent engineering services for the OSS edition.

Comparisons describe capabilities in general terms. Always evaluate the actual version, connectors, workload, support and licensing matrix for your project.

EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Engineering Content You Can Check

Technology changes quickly. These rules keep our resources accurate and useful.

  • Named authors. Every article shows the engineer or architect who wrote it and who reviewed it.
  • Review dates. Each resource shows when it was last technically reviewed.
  • Version scope. We state which product versions, editions and distributions the guidance applies to.
  • Citations. Claims about product capabilities link to official project or vendor documentation.
  • No invented proof. We publish customer stories, metrics and benchmarks only when they are verified and approved.
  • Clear support boundaries. Partner offerings and independent open-source services are labelled separately.

Bassirah’s open-source and community support pages and resources describe independent engineering services. They do not imply affiliation with, endorsement by, or official support from open-source project maintainers or foundations. Vendor-backed support applies only where covered by a separate commercial agreement.

Want to apply a pattern to your own environment?

Book a private discovery workshop or architecture review. We map the relevant blueprint and decision guide to your workloads, constraints and operating model.

Common Questions

Trino is the open-source distributed SQL engine. Starburst Enterprise is a commercial distribution based on Trino, with additional product capabilities and vendor support options. Bassirah can help evaluate either route based on your security, connectors, operations and commercial requirements.

MongoDB Community Server is source-available under the Server Side Public License for modern releases. It is included under the broader “Open-Source & Community Support” website category rather than labeled an OSI-approved open-source product.

We publish a case study only when the customer has approved it in writing, and we describe outcomes only where they were measured. We do not publish illustrative or composite stories as case studies.

Yes. We run private discovery workshops, architecture reviews, proof-of-concept scoping and enablement sessions. Tell us your objectives and current stack through the contact form and we will propose a format.
